Baseball practice, softball practice, birds singing, flowers blooming, grass growing, unrelenting rain storms, flooding...all things you can expect from a normal St. Louis area spring. So far, baseball and softball has been a great thing, the kids have really enjoyed it, the boys have joined a team that has been in 1st place for the last 3 yrs, so they are pretty excited about it, and they have made some new friends. They are really learning a lot from their teammates. It has proven to be a wonderful experience thus far. Sierra has been a strong addition to her team as well.
Steve got the garden tilled up, and we are ready to plant, soon enough we will have so many veggies we won't know what to do with them all.
We doubled the size of the garden this year to plant some melons and berries, we will see how well that work out. The garden is so nice to have, but it takes a lot to maintain it. It does cut a lot of time off the mowing though. The birds have LOVED having the garden tilled, it has made their job of worm hunting a lot easier.
The rain has put us behind quite a bit, but I am so thankful we didn't have to deal with the flooding like so many others around us have. We've had friends that had to leave their homes due to flooding and some who couldn't leave their homes because the roads leading in and out were closed. I could not imagine the trials they have been through and I am so thankful that things were not any worse and the floods have mostly receded and the little bits of rain we are still getting are just that...little bits.
One of my all time favorite shows is coming back on soon, although it isn't nearly as good as it used to be. My kids are trying to give me sneak previews of it though. Maybe you have heard of it...ER
Now I have never really been known for being graceful by any means, I have always been a bit on the clumsy side and apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
Austin was running down the hall last night and tripped. When he landed he hit his thumb, he told me he hurt it, but it looked ok to me and he was still moving it. He also said it felt better, so we gave him some ice and all was good, until this morning, so it being Saturday, we took him to the emergency room. They took a couple of x-rays and luckily it turned out to be jammed and not broken, but he was so proud of his splint they sent him home in.
So all was well in our world again. I got the rare opportunity of spending some time with a very good friend of mine. We went to a candle party...without any kids! It was such a nice break. I really needed a good break...Apparently Sierra felt like she needed a good break too, and she must have thought we really had unfinished business with the ER because that is where she ended up this evening after trying to do an endo on her daddy's mountain bike(An endo is when you do a wheelie on the front wheel instead of the back, ususally done on small stunt bikes and not on bikes with 30 inch wheels!) She didn't accomplish the endo, but she did manage to get her radius broken. She will be going in for a hard cast on Monday, for now she is in a splint and has to keep it iced and elevated and in a not so fashionable sling.
