Flashback Friday

Well it is that time of year again. Every Labor Day weekend Steve's family has their reunion. These pictures are from 05 (as you can see by the date on the pictures) The first picture is of the kids with Steve's grandparents.

left to right: Michael, ?, ?, Sierra, Tyler, ?, Austin, Desi (in the stroller) Is it bad that I don't remember the names of the ? girls? Yes, I think it is. I will have plenty of time to figure that out tomorrow. In my defense they are like 4th cousins or something like that.

Flashback Friday

So, this isn't flashing back very far, but I am so proud of this picture. Steve was honored to be asked to baptise our friend Britt. It was a great day. This wasn't very long after he received the priesthood. He baptised our boys and then just a couple short months later he was able to baptise Britt. I know it meant a lot to him because he smiled for days after being asked. It is kinda hard to tell, but he actually cracked a bit of a smile for the camera too which is something he doesn't normally do.

What to do, what to do?

What a night! I have the house all to myself. Sierra and Austin went to the movies with a bunch of friends. They went to go see the new Star Wars Clone Wars movie. Lucky for me I didn't have to stay with them! YAY!!! I have no desire to see that movie. Tyler is at his first DARE dance. He went with a few friends. So, I am sitting here watching the Cowboys game hoping my phone doesn't ring...maybe I should unplug it...

I finished my book...Cape Refuge, the first book in the series. I could hardly put it down, so now on to book 3 since I already read book 2 on vacation

I think I may go re-arrange my bedroom. It has been a while and I am sure I can find some things to throw away when I am moving stuff.

Maybe I could go work on a couple scrapbook pages, I have a whole bunch of new stuff from Stampin' Up that I haven't used yet, and a bunch of ideas running through my head.

I am getting out of Scouts soon, actually I am being released this Sunday. I will continue to do meetings until we can find someone to replace me. I am also being released from the nursery. I have a new calling though. I have been called as 2nd counselor in the Primary Presidency and I couldn't be more excited. I will miss the little ones in nursery, but I will still see my scouts on a regular basis. Best of all, if something comes up at the last minute on a Wed. evening I don't have to freak out and call 15 people hoping to catch them before they leave. I can just miss a week...not that I see myself actually doing that.

I have started a new program through work. It is called Just 10,000 Steps a Day. Ok, well I didn't start it, I just joined it. The idea is, everyone wears a pedometer and TOUCHDOWN COWBOYS!!!! sorry...everyone wears a pedometer and we track our progress online and the goal is to average 10,000 steps a day over a 2 month period. So, I wore mine today for about 4 hrs at work and only managed to walk @1100 steps, I have a LONG way to go. For those of you who are thinking I am nuts, 10,000 steps roughly equals 5 miles, so it isn't as bad as it seems. Plus, there are incentives too. At the end of the program the bosses are giving away prizes and the best prize of all...I could be in better shape and maybe lose a few pounds. I also signed up for weight watchers too. My work has offered to pay half if we complete the 12 weeks. We had to have 15 people sign up for it and we had 23, so we will be starting that too. So, I should be thinner just in time to fatten up again for the holidays!

Read any good books lately?

I have! Ok, so I haven't gotten into the vampire books. I just haven't tried, not that they don't sound interesting.

So, I like to read and unfortunately I just don't have a whole lot of time to do it. So I try to do it while Steve is driving and I know I will have time to read a few chapters, so vacation is prime reading time. Well I had every intention of doing the same this year but I forgot to grab my book when we left the house. When we stopped for gas in Kentucky at the truckstop, I went in to get a book and this is what I found

Ok, my opinion is *this is the best book I have read in a long time* However, this is book 2 in a series of 4. Hello ebay!! I got home and had to get on to buy the other 3!!! I just got started on book 1 in hopes that it would fill in a couple of questions I had and also hoping I would get into as quickly as I did book 2 and it took all I had to put it down long enough to fix dinner and add a few posts. So now I am reading this

Wonderful Wednesday!!

So, Wednesday....what a wonderful day!! The work week is half over, the weather was perfect...84 degrees and very little humidity, which is very rare for August in STL. We had one of our best ever scout pack meetings!! Usually, our pack meetings are fun, but this one was extra fun...at least for me. Let me start by saying, I love my scouts! They are a great bunch of rowdy, fun loving boys. So, ok, I have to admit I am not a very organized scout leader, and I have really kinda been slacking, but in my defense it is summer and everyone has been busy. Sorry...back to the meeting. Well, I am not really sure how the meeting itself went, good I suppose. There were a lot of awards given out (sorry I missed yours Collin). I had the fun task of starting a fire outside in the parking lot and yes it was contained. So since I had a fire in the parking lot, I couldn't exactly go inside and just leave it unattended. So for most of the meeting I sat outside next to the fire just relaxing. Now I am sure you can understand why I thought it was our best meeting ever, and you are probably asking yourself *Why did she have a fire in the parking lot?* I'm getting there...

Yep SMORES!!!! Who doesn't love Smores? Let me tell you, I was so awesomely prepared!! Me! Can you believe it? By the time the boys came out the fire was PERFECT, the Hershey bars were all broken to the perfect 3 square size and the graham crackers were all broke in half all ready and waiting for the perfectly roasted marshmellows. I have to say it was a good day!

GGGRRRRR!!!

Ok, so vacation was a blast!!! No complaints there, but, we got home and Steve hooked up the computer and got on the internet. He was looking at something on YouTube and now we have a virus on the computer that has shut everything down!!!!!! I am so aggravated!!! Luckily we have a desktop so I can still get online and pay my bills and all that jazz, but ALL of our pictures are on my laptop!!!! Steve took it to work with him today because a guy he works with said he could probably fix it for us...did I mention that we had a message on the phone when we got home? Steve got bumped back down to night shift. So needless to say, I wish we were still on vacation!!!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to rant, and I am not in a very good mood, so I will be back with a more upbeat message later

Sunday Sunday Sunday!!!

What a day we had!!! We took a trip into Stearns, Kentucky and took a train ride through the mountain country. We rode into an old mining camp and toured around there for a while then we boarded the train to go back to the station. If you didn't already know, Austin is a train fanatic!!! He has always dreamed of growing up to be a train engineer...not to be confused with a conductor. He has corrected me a few times already!

We also took a hike in Big South Fork. We hiked out to the Bear Creek overlook and it was gorgeous!! I had every intention of posting pictures, but for some reason, I keep getting an error message, so I will try again later.

Super Saturday

Ok, kind of a cheesy title, but I didn't do a Flashback Friday, because we were crazy busy trying to get everything packed for our vacation. Well, so far we haven't needed anything that we didn't have, so I guess we did a pretty good job packing.

We are living it up right now in Williamsburg, Kentucky. We had a fun filled day of travel. We slept in a little bit this morning. We didn't end up leaving until 8 this morning. It worked out pretty good that way though. We stopped for lunch at a rest stop just outside of Midway, Kentucky.

After an enjoyable lunch consisting of sandwiches, chips and pudding, we all enjoyed a rousing game of frisbee before we headed on down the road.

We ended up taking a little side trip to find a Civil War battlefield. The boys love to play army and Tyler likes to read about historic battles (he has a collection of books all about the different major battles from the Civil War) Ok, in all honesty I don't know if he actually reads them, but I know I can go to his room at all hours of the night and he will be at least looking at the pictures. We went to Camp Wildcat and took a 3/4 mile hike to the top of Hoosier Knob, where most of the fighting took place. It was a beautiful hike and there was a nice breeze.
