After years of waiting, city hall meetings, hundreds of complaints and accidents, the state finally approved funding for a new overpass at what was deemed the most dangerous intersection in the county (which also happens to be the intersection we use to get on and off the highway, and all of the school buses have to cross 4 lanes of highway traffic). About a year ago the broke ground on it and it was finally opened yesterday!!! It is so nice! The original plan didn't call for it to be open until October, but they completed ahead of schedule. In my opinion, it was perfect timing considering school started back up on Tuesday. My kids don't have to cross that crowded highway anymore!!
So yeah, school started Tuesday, and the boys had no trouble adjusting, they are still in the same school as last year, still have all the same friends and they have known their teachers for a while. Sierra had some adjusting to do. She started middle school this year. Let me tell you, I have never been so aggravated with the school system... They planned the open house for a week AFTER school started DUMB!!! These kids are all new to this school and didn't get a chance to go in BEFORE school started to find their classes...I say classes because, there is now no more homeroom, they have a schedule to follow, which they did send to us about two weeks before school started. We noticed however (after she memorised the whole thing) that at the bottom of the page in small print, it said "classes may not be in exact order, this is just to assign students to the teachers" HELLLOOOOO!!!!! What were they thinking? They give us a "schedule" and then tell us not to follow it, they don't allow the students in to the school to find the classrooms until the first day, and none of the kids have a clue where they are supposed to go when they get there!! So, first day, I took an hour off that morning to make sure the kids got on the busses ok, and judge how well it was gonna work with my schedule. I usually get them ready and then I leave for work. They stay home for about 10 minutes and then get on the bus. Since Sierra is in a new school, she rides a different bus than the boys, so I wanted to know who's bus would be there first etc... Well the boy's bus was 10 minutes early, which we expected, they have the same driver as last year, and he was almost always early. Sierra's bus, however, went down the road a block over and never came down our road. She apparently was going by her summer school route and didn't realise that Sierra's stop was added in. So, I had to drive Sierra to school. Can you say CRAZY?!! I have never seen traffic like that in this town! It doesn't even get backed up like that for County Fair week! It took me over a half an hour to go what normaly would have taken me about 6-7 minutes!! So She was about 5 minutes late getting to school for the first day, but so were the kids in the @40 cars still lined up behind me. So not only were all of these kids late, none of them knew where to go once they got inside! She says she got it all figured out and the rest of the day went smoothly for her. She has a few friends in some of here classes, so she is adjusting nicely now. I just don't understand what they were thinking when they set all this up!
Softball is over now, we had our last 2 games last night, we finished the season in 2nd place, only having lost 3 out of 36 games. Yay!! Although Steve and I missed 6 of them with vacation, I am kinda glad to have it over now though...I am tired of being sore every Saturday!

I'm on a mission...
I finally have it figured out...I really need to get in shape, and lose some weight. I think I figured out how to do it. Hello Cardio!! We got home from vacation and I stepped on a scale...not a smart thing to do after almost 2 weeks of fast food, Thanks again Allyson for feeding us something other than McDonalds and Arby's while we stayed with you. All of the weight I struggled to take off the first half of the year was back. So when we got home I ordered this and after 4 long weeks of waiting, it is finally here! Sierra and I have spent a lot of time on it and I can't wait to start seeing some results
